Just as how two travellers heading to the same destination may begin the journey together, get separated in between and then reunite, the founding members followed different streams after school but were brought together by their common interest in Sanskrit and Philosophy. They realised that each other’s complementary abilities could be deployed to provide greater benefit to the world.
At SSF, we teach by adopting the गुरुकुलपद्धति via the online medium. There is greater dedication of time from our side and more interaction between students and teacher. This enables those who cannot go and live physically in a गुरुकुल due to life commitments to pursue the study of the Sanskrit language. The shortest method to obtain maximum knowledge of the language is the study of अष्टाध्यायी, which is the method we teach. It is said in पञ्चतन्त्र, “अनन्तपारं किल शब्दशास्त्रं स्वल्पं तथायुर्बहवश्च विघ्नाः” (“Since verbal science has no final end; since life is short and obstacles impend”). The literature of Sanskrit is vast, and the short solution to obtain maximum knowledge of its word forms is the study of अष्टाध्यायी. The student will be able to progress by dedicating a couple of hours daily. This approach is unique amongst the various organisations working towards the cause of Sanskrit language.
Relying on others’ opinions for the meaning of Sanskrit literature is like relying on others’ description of the taste of honey instead of just tasting it yourself. There are many translations of varying qualities of Sanskrit works and without knowledge one can not differentiate between them. Our goal is to enable more and more people in the society to comprehend Sanskrit literature so that they can understand its true meaning.
